In Mark's Gospel today, the disciples on the boat are amazed at Christ's ability to calm the raging sea, after having slept through the storm. "Who is this?" they ask.
Amazement and awe cannot begin to describe what they were actually feeling. Which brings us to the question: When was the last time you truly felt amazement and awe about the mystery of God?
This is a good question - one I have to think about. At one level, I feel like I am so richly gifted and privileged to experience the mystery of God on a regular basis through my life and ministry, but that feels to facile.
ReplyDeleteGood question!
Hi, Fran,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I think "thinking about" the awe and mystery of God is something we all need to do from time to time. It is so easy, even for us in different Church ministries, to take Him for granted. Entering the mystery is a great reason for quiet prayer.
